Periodontics

Periodontics is the diagnosis and treatment of bone and gums. This work is done usually by a hygienist working in conjunction with the dentist. Camden Place is proud to have the services of an excellent hygienist in Justin Eastwood, who, is in Austin Hughes’s opinion the best hygienist he has worked with in nearly 30 years.

Benefits:

Everyone is prone to bacterial attack on gums and bone. This can lead to bleeding gums and progress to bone loss and eventual tooth loss. Early diagnosis and treatment can prevent and reverse the situation.

Advantages:

• Stopping bone loss (and reversing it in some cases). Stops the loosening of teeth and eventual loss of tooth.
• Stopping tooth loss and it’s associated problems can avoid extreme dentistry.

How it’s done:

Diagnosis is done by the dentist. This involves a clinical examination and x-raying the appropriate areas. A further detailed examination is then done by the hygienist and the necessary treatment started. This involves the gentle scaling, interdental cleaning and instruction on how to maintain a clean healthy mouth.
