Implants – Loose teeth due to gum disease. Wants to enjoy his food with a thick plastic plate – SAME DAY IMPLANTS AND TEETH.

History

Our patient wanted to have more stable teeth to use when chewing. All of the patients current teeth were becoming loose and were being lost one by one. Our patient had not worn a denture and didn’t want to wear a denture either. The ideal solution to this was the Same Day Teeth option which we offer from our practice.

Clinical Situation

The patient had a lot of ‘gum disease’ affecting the upper teeth which had led to bone loss, gum shrinkage and loose teeth, all of which needed to be removed.

Solution

The loose teeth needed removing and placement of implants with fixed teeth all in 1 day was the most ideal solution. This avoided the need for a denture.

Conclusion

Whether it may be decaying teeth, teeth affected by gum disease or teeth lost several years ago, this same day solution completely transform a smile and restores function.

Has your root canal treatment worked? If not, you replace the tooth with an implant.

History

Dr MFB had 2 failed root canal treatments to her lower first molar tooth. Despite best efforts, the symptoms stemming from this tooth would not stop. Dr MFB was left with no choice but to opt for an extraction and replace her important chewing tooth with an implant replacement.

Clinical Situation

The lower molar was tender on tapping and severely symptomatic despite 2 failed root fillings. In terms of expense and time, it would be a pointless root filling a third time and then followed by a crown. Single tooth implant replacements offer a far better prognosis and success in the long-term.

Solution

The root filled tooth was removed gently, preserving as much bone structure as possible for the subsequent implant placement. Once the original tooth was removed, an implant went straight in. After 3 months of implant healing, an implant crown was placed.

Conclusion

Root canal treatments for a molar cost – in the hands of a specialist – upwards of £700. A crown on top of a root filled tooth is usually necessary and can set you back a further £400-£600. A great alternative is to just have the tooth removed and replaced with an implant. The cost may be slightly higher, but the investment in the long run is well worth it.

History

L.H had an implant consultation in London for treatment which was going to be done in Budapest (Hungary). She admitted implant treatment would be a lot cheaper overseas, but was unsure of proceeding with it, which brought her to Camden Place Dental Practice for a second opinion.

Clinical Situation

L.H had missing teeth for over 30 years and wanted to replace her upper full denture with fixed implant-retained teeth. The proposal from the surgeon in London was to carry out the treatment in Hungary using multiple ‘mini implants’ given the thin bone she had from all the years of bone loss since losing her teeth.

Solution

We proposed bone grafting with ‘sinus lifting’ and 6 implants evenly spread across the jaw and fixed 12-teeth bridge. No more dentures! This would be a long-lasting solution rather than mini-implants.

And we made it happen.

Conclusion

We immediately dismissed mini-implants as a solution because we offer long-lasting solutions to all our patients using reputable, tried and tested conventional implants. To many unknown implants are being used across Europe and the world, most of which do not have any medical evidence backing their use.

L.H was requested to ask herself the following questions before having cheaper treatment abroad and all patients are advised of the same:

  • What quality of the implants are they?
  • Are they conventional implants?
  • Are the dentists and practices regulated by governing bodies such as the GDC and CQC?
  • What if there are complications when I am back at home?
  • Will any dentist in this country inherit someone else’s mess?
  • Wouldn’t the cost of going back and forth, in terms of travel and accommodation, equate to the same expense as having treatment in this country?

L.H is now ever so grateful for having treatment here at Camden Place Dental Practice. It was a job well done with no regrets of her choice of place to have treatment.

For most people, the front tooth is the most important. Implants give an uncompromised solution.

History

Being a doctor and having to see patients face-to-face on a daily basis for the next 30 years of his life, R.S wanted a definitive and permanent solution for his troublesome front tooth. Originally the tooth broke because of an accident and had a root canal treatment, post and crown.

Clinical Situation

The front tooth was infected and painful and eventually extracted. The source of infection was due to a root breakage that inevitably can happen when a metal post is inserted in to any tooth, especially single rooted ones like your front incisor.

Solution

The best long-term solution was a single implant. A denture for a front tooth for the rest of your life is unthinkable! The single implant, with good-care, is a life-long investment. It also has the most natural and pleasing appearance.

Conclusion

Single implants have close to a 100% success rate in the right cases and there is no reason why they shouldn’t last a life-time. If it’s an important tooth or teeth, which show on smiling, implants can provide the best and most natural appearance.

Same Day Implants – ‘Denture makes me gag’ – Fixed teeth in a day!

History

D.G has been wearing an upper denture for several years and no longer wanted it anymore because she felt like she would ‘swallow it’ and consequently made her gag with it in.

Clinical Situation

There was only a single tooth left in the upper jaw so the partial denture re placed all the other teeth in the jaw. The lower teeth were worn and also had a poor appearance, although were all good enough to keep.

Solution

We organised a few hygienist appointments to improve the health of the gums and ‘clean up’ all the lower teeth. For the upper jaw, the last remainder tooth was removed and 5 implants placed for fixed teeth. This was done in 1 day! After a 4 month healing period, a permanent, stronger and more pleasing bridge was placed. The lower teeth were conservatively managed to transform their appearance by simply adding composite fillings to their front surfaces.

Conclusion

Same day implants and teeth was an ideal solution for Delia – it eliminated her denture and gave her fixed teeth instantly! The lower teeth were treated without having to destroy them for veneers or crowns – the lower teeth simply had composites added to them, completely enhancing their appearance.

This was truly a whole mouth makeover.

Implants and a Denture used to Replace a Partial Denture and Loose Remaining Teeth

History

Allen did not want to wear a loose lower partial denture any longer and wanted a bottom denture that was more secure.

Clinical Situation

One of the reasons that the existing partial denture had become loose was because the adjacent teeth were becoming loose as well.

Solution

To remove all the loose and infected adjacent teeth, place 2 implants with small locators that helped to ‘click’ in a lower full denture. This would give the denture complete stability and retention during chewing.

Conclusion

Lower dentures a known for moving around in the mouth. The tongue, cheeks and lips all contribute to de-stabilising a lower denture; only 2 implants in the lower jaw can stop all this from happening.

Decades of denture wearing and inability to wear a lower denture solved by implant dentures. No more denture glue!

History

Mrs Masih had none of her natural teeth and had worn an upper full denture for many years. She had tried with a lower full denture, but could not tolerate this, so avoided wearing one altogether.

Clinical Situation

With shrunken gums and bone, it was obvious to see why the lower denture was not stabile enough to be comfortable and retentive to wear. The upper denture was stable enough, but could be improved.

Solution

4 implants in the upper jaw and 2 implants in the lower jaw were placed to help ‘click’ full dentures to stabilise them during chewing.

Conclusion

This allowed dentures to be worn during chewing without denture glue. Even a lower denture with minimal bone and poor stability was resolved with 2 implants to latch on to.
